A roadtrip revival.

In early January 2021, we packed our car with some key supplies (our computers, a giant computer monitor, my coffee maker and smoked paprika come to mind) and headed into the great wide open.

With no in-office commitments and no mortgage, we crossed the continental U.S. and back — covering sixteen states and thirteen national parks — over five months. A few stops were planned in advance, but most were on the fly. There were happy meet ups with a handful of friends and family along the way, but much more often we bonded with strangers. We worked remotely for all but seven vacation days.

As the world eased up from pandemic closures and winter thawed to spring, we wound our way back East and beelined for some of the cultural sites that we’d never made time for. They were well worth the visits.
